Appreciate announced Thursday the release of a personalized service designed to create a customized app discovery experience on Androids marketplace, Google Play. Appreciate hopes to nail app discovery by not only personalizing recommendations based on what’s popular across the network, but also what’s popular with the users’ friends using social network activity, big app data analytics and complex algorithms designed to produce a fresh feed of recommendations for users.
According to a piece by Sarah Perez in TechCrunch Thursday morning, co-founder & CEO Amir Maor shed light on his and co-founder & CTO Yaron Segalov’s inspiration for developingAppreciate, “As the number of apps grew, we found it harder to find good content for our mobile phones,” he says.
Some other features of Appreciate include social search which allows users to see at a glance which friends are using apps that might have been considered as well as personalized app profiles. The app profiles allow users to see the list of apps that are recommended along with why (or why not), by providing a personal match score that takes into account several factors. Users can also see for instance, what power users, like frequent fliers, use for travel apps.
“Everyone knows it is hard to navigate through the apps jungle to find the best ones for you,” said Amir Maor, Co-Founder and CEO of Appreciate. “We created Appreciate to surface those apps that are great for each individual, beyond the best sellers or best advertised. Appreciate delivers a personalized stream of highly relevant apps and also personalizes any app profile for each user to highlight – with a match score showing why they may or may not like them.”
Appreciate is available for free on Google Play here, and plans for an iOS release are slated for later this year.
